Laptop for Media Center

I am able to get a used laptop from work for free. It's a Dell Latitude E6330 with the following specs. Think this is sufficient to use for Media Center recording/viewing?

Intel i5-3340M @ 2.7GHz
8GB DDR3 SDRAM (1600MHz )

Another PC on network, plus an Xbox 360 in each bedroom (2), but rarely are we watching TV in more than one location. I use a Ceton tuner.

Since they will take the old HDD, I will be adding my own and most likely an SSD since prices have come down so much. I will also have to add the OS (Win 7 or 8).

Thoughts? Thanks!

Should work fine. If you plan to connect it directly to a TV, you'll have to use VGA or get a mini HDMI to full size HDMI adapter. If you use an SSD, you won't have room for any recordings. I recommend you record to an external HDD or get an HDD caddy that goes in place of the DVD drive. They're about $30 on ebay.

If you get Win 8, be aware that it must be Win 8 Pro and that you can no longer buy the Media Center add-on from Microsoft. For that reason, Win 7 would be the best choice.
