CetonMonitor

#1

Post by KerrAvon » Sat Oct 24, 2015 2:55 am

Hi Everyone - Marc here (AmazonMCEAddin/NetflixMCE) with a new utility for Ceton InfiniTV6 ETH owners. I love my Ceton - what I don't love is the call from the wife at 3:30 in the afternoon that WMC is reporting no tuners available because -for whatever reason- the InfiniTV6 ETH device decided to reboot. We know what that means - reboot the Media Center PC. I think we can do better.

Introducing CetonMonitor. This command-line utility will read the uptime from the InfiniTV device and when it detects a reboot - it goes to work. It restarts the Windows Media Center Receiver Service and then restarts the WMC GUI; these two actions will fix the WMDRM pairing and within a minute (or so) you're back watching TV. No rebooting your Media Center PC required.

Disclaimer - this is definitely a '1.0' release. I haven't run it through extensive testing; it certainly doesn't take every configuration into consideration; it may smell bad or scratch the furniture. Would appreciate feedback though - I hope the community finds it useful.

Here is the link to the blog post with the download: http://sharepointsnapple.com/2015/10/23/cetonmonitor/

Thanks!

Marc

Thanks for this useful tool Marc. The last release of beta drivers prevented the odd random reboot happening for me. YMMV of course.

KerrAvon,

Are you still monitoring this board? I would like to use this app but can't seem to get it to work...

Thanks

I think you'd have better luck with a currently supported product.. Like SiliconDust HDHomerun if you're having issues with your ETH.

I'd consider it if they ever came out with their product. Last I heard the 6 channel unit was supposed to be ready in 2018 :-(

My problem is my system keeps going "RED" for WMDRM pairing. Want to figure out what is going on. I bought another used ETH6 on eBay thinking mine was going bad but I am seeing the problem more often. So then I put together a new 'server' to just run WMC, clean installed Win7 but still have frequent going RED issues. Even after setting up multiple Task Schedulers to restart WMC during the day I am still having show recording failures.

Thought it might be a firmware and read thought a number of posts. Found a beta 15.1.13.152 that I thought I'd try. Now it is even WORSE - can't get it out of RED paring at all, no matter what I do. Hope I can find the 'older' firmware version (stupid me - I didn't write it down).

Arrrggghhh...

Have you heard any news about the SD unit?

You can downloadd KerrAvon's utility from the "Ceton Monitor" folder.
