Is there a way to get a list of all available tv series?

I just got a letter from comcast that they are changing their Lineup in October
So because i foresee problems or just want to prepare for them (any changes always seem to be problems for me)

I want to record a bunch of TV Series between now and then

Anyway it is difficult with the guide data the way it is to find tv series.

Some Stations only run a series on a saturday morning or at 3am on friday
and some run on more than one tv network

Is there anyway I can get a list of all of the available series that I could set to record?

at this point I am thinking maybe not even through WMC

But if I could go to some site
and put in A&E and it would say TV Series that are Active are.. .this that theotherone

If i could just get a list of all the ones active on all my channels
i could make better decisions about my recording schedule.

I was just thinking is it possible to access the guide db file and import it into mysql db
then sort by a variable of Series
then I could have a list of all items that are marked series
then count all the showings of that series to get a number of episodes

then i would be left with all the series that are active
and I would know which series are played more often
and then i could select to record those series which have more episodes airing

and I would also be left with a list of series anyway to just know whats available even if its only 1 episode a week

from what i remember the guide data is in with all the previously recorded data and other stuff
seems pretty bulky

if you know...

Not any more. Since the switch over to Rovi the categories are all screwed up. In the past you could drill down in the "Series" categories and see all of the TV series. Now with Rovi, it appears that almost everything is lumped into "other", "other" which is quite frustrating.

I haven't heard when or if this is ever going to get fixed.

There are still very many inconsistencies in guide data quality and structure including wrong images. Time will tell if things improve or not.
