I am stuck in Rochester MN 55906 ... I am a Charter Digital Cable (Spectrum Plus) customer
My OTA channels 787 KTTC-CW is messed up... it has the same guide as KTTC which is the KTTC NBC station here... not right!
Also the channel 788, which should be KXLT HD, is totally gone... can't add it back in. This is an OTA channel that Charter carries but it has disappeared.. Not good!
Also, I can't do "series" recording in WMC anymore... I get one instance and that's it! I used to record a lot of series and I can't anymore.
I absolutly love WMC and really hope that somebody can fix all of this so I can keep using it!

I have 2 Windows 7 with Hauppauge 2250's in them in the St Paul, MN 55109 area. The first PC I got working with 55109 but the second one would not load 55109 but I kept trying (many times, including a reload of Windows 7) and finally 55125 loaded. Neither have the same/correct channels as Zap2it did but the main ones I need are there for now. After working with Windows since Windows 3 this has sure been a big let down by dear old Microsoft. Is this their new customer relations!?

NE Ohio / Western PA update:
16146 Sharon, PA (Will provide Erie, PA OTA guide even though it is a Youngstown market)
15222 Pittsburgh, PA
44512 Youngstown, OH
44288 Windham, OH (will provide Cleveland, OH OTA guide)
I have tried about 20 zips around NE Ohio. I have not found one that does not work. The issue is that only one major OTA TV market will be provided with your zip, regardless of how many markets you can receive with a good antenna. WMC will only automatically configure channels for that market. You will need to do a manual channel scan and manual configuration of additional channels that your tuner can receive. Guide Tool http://1geek1tool.com/guidetool/ works well to incorporate other OTA guides into your setup. It seems WMC retains a history of used markets. For example guide tool could not see Pittsburg or Erie OTA at first, since I had never configured a Pennsylvania zip. My last two setup runs, I tried Sharon and Pittsburgh zips. Now, guide tool allows me to access all 4 of the above OTA markets. Bonus! On a clear night, I can easily pick up these markets by rotating the antenna.

I live in San Dimas Ca. Zip code 92804 from Anaheim does not work for me for OTA listing. I tried several cities around me, none worked. A few Channels, usually secondary digital ones are listed 4 out of 62 channels. I even tried Van Nuys suggested by someone. Nothing works.

Hopefully you can confirm something for me...freetvee.com wrote:Denver, CO 80228 works OTA!
Also, Longmont area up North, 80503 OTA works too!
I'm going into Settings>TV>Guide>Set up guide listings.
When I get to the page headed "Select TV Signal Provider" there are zero to many entries in a box. For instance when I use 80503 I get:
Longmont, Comcast Longmont (Digital)
or for 80206 I get
Denver, CenteryLink Prism - Denver (Digital)
Denver, Comcast (Digital)
Selecting any of these gives me channel numbers in the Guide, different ones for the different selections, but "No data available" for all program data.
What I need to know is were there different selections in the list when you finally got data from Rovi?
Also you guys should be putting in which selection from the list that you chose, that is where the actual data comes from. Saying a zip-code works doesn't really say anything, since there can be multiple entries. This whole premise of working zip-codes is just fantasy anyway, I have tried every single zip-code in the list and I still see data from Zap2it only.
My bet is it's Akamai's cloud network and caching by ISP's of dynamic data. (Akamai's cloud is employed by Microsoft to deliver multimedia data and is the owner of the IP addresses people keep using to modify their host files). Getting the guide working is random, all the fixes are just people thinking the last thing they did worked, hence all the varied "fixes" and yet a constant flow of new tickets saying that none of the workarounds has any effect. I've tried all the fixes in Vista and nothing has gotten me any guide data.

Are you saying that GuideTool can access the history of lineups that has been found? If so, how do you tell WMC to use a particular lineup?al_wilson2 wrote:NE Ohio / Western PA update:

Who finds the lineups WMC or the tuner?

It appears that WMC retains a history of lineups and that Guide Tool can use those. You can use multiple lineups in Guide Tool. You can choose a different lineup and station data for each physical channel.Crash2009 wrote:Are you saying that GuideTool can access the history of lineups that has been found? Rovi’s zipcode data has massive holes (particularly regarding OTA customers). To find a zipcode that will work for you. Go to MSN Website populated by Rovi data and find a working provider.
http://www.msn.com/en-us/tv/tv-listings
In the search menu keep entering cities till the drop down menu produces a provider that will work for you. Most cities will not provide an OTA option. Since WMC Setup will not accept cities you still need to find a zipcode within that city that will work. (I live in Atlanta and had to use a zipcode from 30 miles away 30601.) Enter that zipcode make certain that the website populates with data that is useful to you. Write it down, this will be zipcode that Setup needs.
Rovi seems to provide good list of Cable and Satellite providers but has left out the OTA(Over-The-Air) option for most zipcodes.
Two additional fixes maybe needed to get the guide working. The first, hard coding the lookup for data.tvdownload.microsoft.com and cdn.epg.tvdownload.microsoft.com may require modifying the host file. Second, resetting Media Center.
I,m out of here.

I can confirm that this one is working. I got it from the wonderful spreadsheet that someone put together. It didn't work at first though. I had to also modify my dns host to route to the new service provider.

After running setup again, it appears that all of the missing channels in OTA are back. However, there are now too many channels (ones that you couldn't get here with an antenna on a 100 ft mast) and two channels have jacked up guide data. Again, nothing that GuideTool can't take care up quick like.ravsitar wrote:55112 Minneapolis/St Paul, MN
The data downloads, but some of the OTA channels are missing data. GuideTool fixes that easily.

EPG transition in WNY (zip code 14221) was seamless, no effort was required from the end user. However, some of the channels are missing details, such as whether it is new or rerun, and the episode descriptions, which makes WMC record all of the re-runs and repeats. I have like 6 episodes of the Family Guy scheduled to record just today between OTA and FiOS channels, when I specifically have it selected to record new episodes only.
