I wouldn't waste time with guide tools. It is a complete waste of time.

I suspect you are correct, it is mapping software, could be useful is the call number is actually a primary key on the service, but I suspect no or this problem would be resolved.deihmos wrote:I wouldn't waste time with guide tools. It is a complete waste of time.

I wouldn't say Guide Tools is a waste of time at all... Following advice in the other thread, I see I can fix this myself if Rovi never does. On Wednesday I spent some time with Guide Editor, Guide Tool, and some manual work in MyChannelLogos to get a handful of channels back in the 700 range on a test system (My main HTPC still have Zap2It data until July 27). Since then things have worked well on the test machine, with decent data and with two forced guide updates, things have stayed synced and functional...
The key for me was to use the channels my HDHR Primes already see to make entries in the 700s using Guide Editor, Use Cablevision's lower number equivalent channel to tie to the 700 version (tie CBSHD 2 to CBSHD 702), and then some channels just needed their icon reset manually... I'm in 07836, using Morris County HD Cablevision TV setup and guide data.
If things aren't sorted by Sunday, I think I can set this all up manually in an hour or so. Too bad this stuff can't be done as a batch, or as a file that could be shared. Entering each channel on its own is the hard part.

this has totally sucked. this rovi company better get this right - my Media Center HTPC isn't going anywhere. I've no idea how much money MSFT is paying Rovi but its probably enough that they should not have totally upset their most loyal customers 2 weeks before the biggest product launch of the decade.
Restored my main HTPC to the day before the guide data took a dump - no HD channels right now but at least it is operating with some semblance of normalcy
I had screwed with it so much the guide was blank and the channels weren't labeled with NUMBERS. I couldn't download any new tv setups or guide data. tried many things. ALL unsuccessfully.
if sunday rolls around and I can get programming and recording schedules set i'll be glad.

Nice, thanks - the same non-HD approach worked for me this morning, too. Had tried that earlier in the week and it was useless, but now that band of 660-799 is covered in full without any of the manual labor I had panned.villian512 wrote:update guys

Selecting non-HD digital lineup now works for Cablevision 'Hauppauge' customers. Wasn't showing 700's last night - now it is. PROGRESS!

I can second what others are seeing this morning. I live in Brooklyn (11238) and the Non-HD option now shows all 700 channels in HD as they were in the past. Downloading the guide info took much longer than in the past, but everything in the guide is accurate and working as of right now!

I can confirm they foolishly labeled the HD, non HD but for 11238 this issue is fixed. Hallelujah!!!

Has anyone had any luck with the Woodbury head end? I have not gotten any fixes on the Cablevision Woodbury iO digital head end signal today. My guide automatically updated to the Rovi guide on 7/22 which has multiple issues, and rovi support emailed me yesterday and said a fix would show up by the end of today, so I downloaded the guide manually a few times today but no change. (I have avoided re-running tuner setup so far)
Not only is my guide missing the basic cable HD channels in the 600s, 700s, 800s, but it is also completely missing 110 Live Well, 150 Velocity, 151 Universal, 152 C&I, and 153 Palladia...
Well the tvguide.com HD listing has the above missing channels listed but none of the basic cable HD channels, and the one that doesn't say HD has the HD channels listed but the above channels are missing.
So looks like Woodbury still has some issues with each choice. I don't think it would be worth going through a tuner setup and picking either of these yet. Can anyone verify these issues?

I'm on the Wappingers system. Just redid the TV setup and all my 700s are now back. Just be sure to pick the digital lineup without HD in the name. I'm guessing that's probably going to be similar across Cablevision different systems. I think someone else mentioned the same thing above.

After battling the dreaded "unable to download" message when I went to change my zipcode back from Hamilton NJ, I was finally able to switch to Monmouth/Wall system in my 07712 zipcode area.
As others have reported, I selected the non-HD entry and now all is well. This has been a harrowing few days and I'm glad its over.
Thanks all for your input, solutions and updates.

Updating my guide was not enough to bring back the HD channels even though I was already using the non HD Woodbury digital data, so this morning I ran tuner setup and everything came in. Woo hoo!
There are a few issues left with the data quality to tweak and I reported them on MS Connect:
I have already moved all my channels around so I cannot guarantee I am giving you the correct default channel numbers but I do have the names.
710 is incorrectly named WLIW-HDTV-PBS which is a duplicate name of the actual WLIW HD. This channel is actually WLNY HD. Also this channel's guide data is for the wrong channel as well. But it is broadcasting WLNY HD which we want, so please correct the name and provide the guide data for WLNY.
W42AE is not the correct name for this channel. It should be named Women's Entertainment HD. It might be located at 742 or 842 but not sure as I moved it.
WVVH outside television (the Hamptons) is incorrect name. The correct name for this channel is Comedy Central (it is the SD version of the channel) I don't know what channel number it is on as I moved it but maybe 50.
All the channels called Yankees Television in the guide actually use the call letters YES and are more recognizable if they are called YES.
