Why does my computer keep downloading the guide info?

I no longer use Windows Media Center but my computer keeps downloading the guide info for the local channels. I did disable Windows Media Center and then re-enabled it and it still does it.

If I disable Windows Media Center can I still watch my old shows in Windows Media Center format? Guess I need to convert them before Windows 10

By disable, you unchecked it in "Turn Windows features on or off"?

Media Player can play them, PotPlayer too, at least.

I've read that Win 10 has no Media Player, but I find that hard to believe.

I disable Windows Media Center on my computer. Now my computer doesn't wake up all the time.

How will I be able to play shows in Windows 10? What about Blu-rays and dvds?

There is a schedule task (Control panel>administrative tools) that kicks off a MCupdate that will update the guide. You can as others said to Add remove windows components and uninstall WMC

Or you can disable the task and go into services and disable the 2-3 WMC services
