I believe that someone posted on one of these outages before that once Microsoft fixes the problem it takes about 8 hours to process the EPG to be ready for the download and that usually takes place over night and the updated EPG will be ready the next day at the usual processing time which in the Pacific time zone is usually between 4 and 5:30 pm.

The interesting comment in the MS Answers thread, from "Barb":
There isn't a Media Center team anymore. They've all moved to other groups or left the company. I emailed the single contact I have who was once the guy for Media Center 'sustained engineering' He escalated internally.
Back in the old days there were some 50+ people dedicated to WMC, now there are none. .

THANK YOU!
Makes me more nervous every time this comes up and gets fixed in the nick of time. Viva Media Center...
Scheduled the HBO documentary about Scientology, "Going Clear" thanks to this update for the guide. Thought it was weird that the guide seemed to stop early, came here, and am glad to see things got sorted out

Did you go to settings and force a download? I guess with so many systems to track, it might take time to get them all in sync... Hope you see updated info soon!

FIXED to 4/4, thanks. There use to be an time when WMC's guide use to go for 21 days and now it's about 14 days. I think it just might be an good idea if CETON comes up with an guide service that is as easy to set up and use as Microsoft's WMC's guide (just in case Microsoft decides to discontinue the service) that integrates with WMC and also comes as an standalone package that has all of WMC's features including those that were discontinued. Hopefully that's an project that CETON is working on.

Awesome! I'm up to 4/6 - Like I said a few days ago in the thread, wait a few days and it'll work out. Maybe complaining had something to do with it, but I'm still betting it's a known issue at any time change worldwide (the 8th in US - guide down before, and 29th in UK, guide down before). Whatever - at least we all can enjoy the WMC experience for awhile.
See everyone again around Oct 29th (UK) and Nov 1st (US) for the next time change

I've never known WMC's guide to go for 21 days. It's always been 12 days, just like ReplayTV.
But then, I've always used WMC. Windows XP Media Center Edition--a completely different install of XP, unlike how it's now Windows Media Center and is just included in Windows 7 and available as an option for Windows 8--may have done it differently.

XP Media Center is about the same - I'm getting 14 days right now. It's usually 12 to 14 days of guide from the Zap2it service.

Yes, now they are as program changes can be unpredictable between 14 and 21 days.dkrom wrote:XP Media Center is about the same - I'm getting 14 days right now. It's usually 12 to 14 days of guide from the Zap2it service.

To repeat, I've never seen anything remotely resembling 21 days.
I don't think Tribune even does that.

What does anybody think of this plug and play idea I proposed (others like Silicondust could also come up with an solution)?maize1951 wrote: I think it just might be an good idea if CETON comes up with an guide service that is as easy to set up and use as Microsoft's WMC's guide (just in case Microsoft decides to discontinue the service) that integrates with WMC and also comes as an standalone package that has all of WMC's features including those that were discontinued. XP media center was never 21 days - here's an MS FAQ backup from 2003 - http://www.itlisting.org/1-windows-medi ... 1b3cc.aspx - 2.7.4 says 14 days.
