Channel guide not loading, mcupdate.exe 0kb in size

I am having a an issue where the guide isn't showing any channels. I searched online and found the issue was that mcupdate wasn't running.

I tried running it, but it i get an error saying that the app can't be ran on the pc. I also tried sfc /scannow but that didn't solve the issue either.

is there any way to repair wmc or if you have another solution it would be much appreciated.

Can you copy over mcupdate.exe from another machine maybe?

Restore an old copy from a backup maybe?

I don't have another computer running windows 8 unfortunately, could you possibly upload a zip of the mcupdate.exe?


I trie uninstalling It by removing the feature, but it seems like all that does is delete the short cuts...
