Ran MS WMP troubleshooter, now WMC issues

I had some issues with the media library (music mostly) in WMP and WMC, untitled playlist that crashed WMP and WMC, some files that wouldn't delete. So, whee me, instead of just deleting the cache files and rebuilding, I ran Microsoft's Troubleshooter for WMP (http://support2.microsoft.com/mats/wind ... diagnostic).

Which worked. Although, now, when recordings finish, or when files are deleted, my CPUs peg to 100%, and I usually am getting a severe video stutter on whatever is playing back at the moment.

Don't suppose anyone knows what peripheral damage this tool does, I've not yet been able to figure out what has happened that causes the CPU to spike so hard post-record.
