Lol, to distance themselves from 8, Microsoft is skipping 9 and going right to Windows 10:

Why did they hide the Dell logo behind the screen? They are business partners.

Because your 'crazy hair dude' used to be the head of ehome, that's the only argument you could makeSTC wrote:Why would we even assume it would be in the build?
It was an afterthought in 8
Edit: Apparently, you can resize the new Start Menu:

So, MS are hoping to jump on the Star Trek movie train and go right to an even number...that works?
But....8 is an even number...and it doesn't work...

Nah, it's basically 8.2, so I'm in no rush to check anything out - even in just a VM. Not in the current preview version at least. 8.1 is working fine on the desktop for me ATM.newfiend wrote:so have any of you signed up for the tech preview?

No WMC equals no deal. Clouds, mobile and proprietary stores are not my thing.

I'm actually kind of hopeful about WMC after watching the announcement. MS seems to be very gun-shy about pissing off any group of customers given the backlash over Win 8. Since they're in a 'trying to please everybody' frame of mind, perhaps they won't remove WMC after all.

I suspect it's gone. Even if it isn't, it'll be exactly the same as 7MC. Thanks to the charging model in Win8 they now have the data to prove only 4 people bought it. (Of course it might have been as many as 12 people if 8MC had been any different to 7MC, but that's another conversation)
