Hardware Update 7359 (stable)????

#1

Post by Rew452 » Sun Aug 24, 2014 12:01 pm

I just installed a new ETH and replaced my old InfiniTV 4 PCI-e.
I removed the older card and reset Network settings and cleared Tuner Config.
Then installed 14.4.6.21 firmware
So far so good but I still show a Hardware update 7359 both stable and beta.

Should this be installed??

On Comcast, no TA it works but a little slow sometimes on channel change. Signal levels are good.

Advise please

Thanks

Did not do my homework; after searching the forum found good reference about doing it.

Must say Made a Big Positive improvement, channel change times much better!

Will test more and report back on overall performance.

One more thing, Having had the InfiniTV 4 pci-e for over a year now, the ETH has a much cleaner - better picture.

^ I'm unsure how that can be because any cable tuner only records the 0's and 1's coming from headend and aside from being decrypted is completely untouched.
The only way you'd see any image difference is through changes to your GPU or TV settings.

Yes, I know but for some reason picture seems better to me. Maybe because signal levels are compensated in the ETH. and not in the pci-e 4.

Cheers

We have never release a HW Update (the 7359) for the InfiniTV 6 ETH - all units were running that version from the factory. Firmware 14.4.6.21 is a relatively recent update and we do recommend that it be installed.

Barring an issue where your signal strength was at the very edge of the signal strength limit, where it would break up into pixels, there's no way the picture quality could be any different.

Yes, Folks I do understand digital 1's and 0's and that technically there is no difference between the 2 units but the rest is my perception, please don't break my bubble. Ha! Ha!

Mine came in from Amazon by you (Ceton) and firmware was April last year if I recall correctly. Definitely early 2013.

So far for me it really work very well, Channel change times seem very good. Fingers crossed it continues!

Perhaps I don't understand what it is you are saying, but my brand new (arrived today) Ceton InfiniTV 6 ETH from the seller Ceton on Amazon.com shipped with Hardware Version 6590.
