Anyone experienced such an issue. It does not happen often but I find it annoying. There is no error log or anything. The PC just reboots.

Start with some basic hardware tests. Test your memory with Memtest (www.memtest.org) and check your HD health with HD Sentinel.

How about checking your driver versions? I would start with the SATA controller.

went ahead and bought a new power supply. If it was a diver issue I think I would at least have an error message.

Everybody has something hidden away in Event Viewer. Have a look in the "Administrative" section.

You running 7 or 8?

The only error I have is the previous shutdown was unexpected. I did a hard drive scan in dos and it found bad sectors. I am not sure if that could have caused the reboots but I will monitor to see if it happens again.

Right click on my computer, then select advanced system settings, then startup and recovery under the advanced tab. Make sure the "automatically restart" box under system failure is NOT checked. This might let you see a blue screen of death and you can google the information on it to help find a solution.

More may follow. Keep an eye on things ;)

FWIW bad sectors are not 'repaired' but rather taken off line. The HDD will not read or write those sectors again.

Got a question for ya STC. Which statement is more true? BSOD's cause bad sectors or bad sectors cause BSOD's.
