Mouse not working on network laptops

Hi, hope someone can help me. I have a server with WMC and virtual DVD drive. We use mainly for my disabled son to access his DVD's on his laptop. Has worked perfect for a year and a half. Since yesterday mouse, is working glitchy on his laptop -- like not at all -- not even the mouse pad (fine on his server and on my desktop also on the network). Tried using another laptop on same network, same problem. I'm at a loss. He uses a microsoft intellemouse optical that is programmable -- that couldn't possibly be the problem could it?

Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.
