What's new in WMC land?
Hello chaps!
Just checking in, not been on the site in ages! What's new in WMC land? Anything new and exciting?
How's Windows 8.1 going? Did MS ever fix those god awful Metro media apps and playback from local network storage?
Cheers

Just installed a new software setup on my main HTPC in the living room this week, I am now using OpenElec which is a Linux based distribution built from the ground up for XBMC. I was previously using my own custom installation of Linux Ubuntu Minimal and XBMC. Also using a new XBMC skin called Aeon MQ5 which looks amazing and works much better than the last version which was MQ4.

Been years since I have used Media Browser, I used it before My Movies 3 came out as My Movies at that time look very dated in the GUI department and Media Browser was better eye candy.milli260876 wrote:Mediabrowser 3.
you will soon forget that little xbmc affair.
I take it Media Browser is no longer just an add-on for WMC, its now a fully stand alone Media Center platform that right ?

Hi Stuart!
I'm loving the Windows Phone client option by the way. It's great.
Just imagine if MS had thought of something like this when they went from 7MC and WHS v1 to.....

Yep, music, pictures, home video you name it. All accessible via the server virtually anywhere. Not sure about linux, they may have it in the works. Their new stand alone mediabrowser theater just released alpha version. Looks great with a lot planned

Hows you?
Microsoft could have done a lot of things, I got bored of waiting, 7MC was epic, Windows 8 and how they handled WMC and our community really p i s s e d me off, I now only have one Windows machine in the entire house and that is my laptop running Seven.

XBMC does look nice.
7MC and MB3 is working for us right now, we've done PC's at each TV in the past, mainly using DVBLink TVSource for live and recorded TV and have decided that extenders make more sense for us right now.
Keep us in the loop though - 9MC? Doubtful!

What you using for extenders Rob 360's? Those Ceton extenders looked very promising are they still alive and kicking? Thought I heard something about them being dropped?

I'm using a 360 slim and an Echo for extenders.
The Echo is still out there - the Android OS plan was dropped though.

Hi
I saw an interesting video the other day about a Media Browser 3 add-on for XBMC. But wasn't sure why you would want to do that?
I posted a newbie questions thread here on the Media Browser forum.
Cheers
