Audio cuts in and out for live and recorded shows

#1

Post by iheartmce » Sat Oct 19, 2013 7:00 pm

i have a htpc running amd athlon 64 x2 dual core processor 3.10 GHz, win 7 64bit, 8 GB ram., Radeon HD 6000 series video card, hauppauge wintvdcr-2650 cablecard tuner. My audio works fine when playing blu rays, dvd, music, on line, netflix, and hulu. however when i watch live or recorded tv. my audio sometimes cuts in and out. this happens with the audio output on my motherboard and the audio out of my video card. I have just installed a seperatre audio card with the same issue.

Any suggestions on what this can be?

Awhile back I had a weird "stuttering" problem on TV and Netflix content; I traced it down to a specific release of Malware Bytes. It started when that version installed itself, and it stopped when the next version installed itself.

The stuttering happened only on the main computer, but not on extenders. STC's idea of streaming a recording through to another PC is a great one. That'll help you find out if the problem is in the content or not.

So: anti-virus or similar? Yeah, weirder things have happened.

If the drop-outs are in the same place each time you play the same recording, you can pretty much confine your investigations to the tuner.

So I purchased a new cable card tuner, and continue to have the same issue.

Is there some audio codec I may need to reinstall?
