Non-WMC remote won't find Guide after a while

#1

I'm running WMC on a HP HTPC with a variety of third-party IR remotes and a wireless Logitech mouse and keyboard. I've taught the remotes (Phillips, and two One-For-All remotes) most of the basic commands and they work for a while. But after running for several commands, I can use the arrow keys to go from Recorded TV to Guide, the cursor moves back to Recorded TV when I hit OK on the remote. The wireless mouse works as it should. If I restart WMC, the remote works again, for a while. Seems like a buffer filling up. Anybody else run into this problem? Any suggestions? Thanks.

That's not a remote problem. It's a bug in WMC itself. Been there forever. Nothing you can do about it.

BTW, One-For-All remotes usually have WMC codes built-in, so learning is unnecessary. The WMC codes are CBL 1272 (01272) and DVD 1972 (21972).

When this happens, move up, then move down (or vice versa) and then select the Guide. It's an old bug, as mdavej said.
