Movie metadata

Just wondering if anyone else has noticed this as an issue or maybe i'm doing something wrong.. media center has located my movies but is not pulling any metadata from the dvdid.xml files that are present in the folders where the movies are?? artwork works fine, but nothing else.. worked in windows 7, but not 8.. ??
