Metro Media Centre in Windows Store

I tried out the Metro Media Centre in Windows Store. It is a "modern UI" app that uses Remote Potato and and Home Media Sharing to give access to a Windows 7 or 8 MCE.

I quite like the background updating of the scheduled shows on to the live tile.

That is the most un-metro metro-app I've seen in the store.

Want to see how it's done? Look at the Plex client.

And the website says to set the frame rate to 25 fps to avoid stuttering? Why should the user have to do this? Selecting the correct frame rate for transcoding is trivial and should be handled by the server. Although I'd note that the remote potato server is hard coded to 25fps for HLS clients, a bug that's been fixed in my fork on GITHUB (FWIW).

$2.99? ROFL. It looks like a sample app. Not paying for that.
