Windows Media Center 8 crashes

#1

Post by flossed » Sun Dec 02, 2012 8:50 am

Hi

I am using Windows 8 Pro 64bit with Free Windows Media Center. I have a DVICO Fusion HDTV DVB-T Pro Tuner card, my video card is a Nvidia GTX 560ti using Nvidia Drivers 306.97, The TV Tuner card drivers comes from the windows 8 installation....I can initially scan for channels & got it working....now whenever I try to view LIVE TV or View Movies, Windows Media Center Crashes & it say "Media Center has stopped working". BTW my windows 8 is a fresh install .... please advise.

Thanks,
flossed

Edit: Sometimes WMC works at boot up after a few hours of browsing & some gaming on the computer it will crash again & I have to restart PC for WMC to work again.

You probably want to check the divco site for drivers, even
if you have to install the driver in compatability mode for windows 7.
The windows driver comes from windows update and they are usually
older versions that may cause problems.
I know the included driver for my HD650 was an older version that
caused video tearing and audio screeching on bright whites.
I got the latest driver from AMD and installed it in compatability mode.

Had the same problem. Also, Media Player wouldn't take me past the set up screen. Found similar problem on the internet and the answer, identified by a Microsoft tech, was a corrupted user file. Googled "fix corrupted user file" and got a youtube vid that showed precisely how to fix that. didn't take long and now all problems are gone.
