Companion app with Echo?
My home bar has three TV's. The larger set is configured as zone 2 from my main HTPC rig. I was thinking of getting cable boxes for the other two sets, but now that Echo is coming out thought that would be a better way to go. Will the the companion app control the two Echos in addition to the PC? Thanks.

Well this isn't getting posted today. My wife was in a bad accident so I"m at the ER now waiting to see her. We'll try to get it posted tomorrow.

Don't worry about the unimportant things (like this site) and go be with your wife. I wish her well and healing.

Yeah, don't worry about this stuff. Family is the most important thing. I hope she is going to be alright.

I appreciate the concern, we are back home. Nothing life threatening, she will just be in a lot of pain this week. I'll be up for a bit but its been a long day so I'm not going to be doing too much. We'll get a beta out tomorrow though.

Should the echo be showing up on my companion app once all are connected to the same network? Right now I can only see my HTPC, but not the echo.

So once you have the echo all setup and running once you select Play on a recording or go into the remote and hit "select device" you will see a pop up that will ask you which device you want to control.
Extenders show up with their default name right now which is something like "mcx1-somethign", we are working on a rename method in a future update of the companion services.

That's the problem. It isn't showing up when I go to add the echo as a device. It also doesn't work when I add it by IP address.

Well you can't add extenders as a PC.
1.) Enter your PC's IP/Port and connect to it in the app.
2.) Go to the remote section of the app
3.) In the menu you should see "select device" or on iOS the name of the PC should be shows. Tap on that.
4.) If an extender is connected to your host PC then a pop up will happen to ask you which device connected to your PC you want to control.
Similarly this will happen if you try to playback a recording or movie, it asks you if you want to play on the PC or extender.
If it doesn't show up on the app in the fashion, give the host PC a reboot and then try again.

Perfect! Thanks so much. I was trying to add it as a pc...which obviously didn't work.
