Internal Blu-Ray issue
So I got my nMedia HTPC 5000B case, slap all the components in and to my luck the Plextor Blu-Ray drive has a door so wide I'd have to dremel the front of the case out to get integrated DVD case door to open. I remember this being a problem with another case I had, and they made this Blu-ray drive as big as they could to where it is a tight fit inside regular 5.25" bay.
The panel on the 5000B case looks like it allows for a tiny bit of clearance on each side of the integrated door, but I'll need a reliable but a smaller internal Blu-Ray drive. Anyone ever been in this spot, or could I get some links to reliable Blu-Ray drives ??

Is there a way to remove the "door" section from the front of the drive? It may be removable so just the tray can eject giving you a bit more clearance.. The only problem with that may be dust contamination getting into the drive over time..

Even if I removed the door, the slide out tray still wouldn't clear the opening.

Wow. Can you swap the case for another? Or is it some strange door on the Blu-Ray drive? Seems odd that only some drives would fit/work.. What case did you get?

nMedia 5000B HTPC case. I put this drive in a Dell XPS 420 case and it was the same problem. It is the tray on the drive, it is wider than it needs to be. It barely fits in my gaming case, so the same problem with every case basically

The front of the tray should snap off of the ROM drive, you may have to manipulate it by pulling it outward a bit. It does come off though, leaving the drive with a slim tray without the bulky rectangle part that's causing you trouble.
You may be overthinking it.

Thanks, I'll try again. I attempted it last night but it was after a long day at work so maybe just a fresh brain
