New forum requests?

#1

Post by holidayboy » Tue Jun 07, 2011 6:57 pm

Without wanting to overwork makryger (who has done an unbelievable job in setting this site up)......

Does anybody have any requests for forums?

Would a mobile devices forum be good maybe?

How about a Media Player forum?

Get your thinking caps on, nothing too out there - we don't want a page full of forums that will never get used! :D

Perhaps a mod/admin forum so I dont have to pm both of you to say something generic?

Good call for the sub forum.
I'm sure Rob or Michael will add that to the list.

I know this may be a pretty tall request, but any way to make a copy of the old posts over on the Windows Experts Communities that used to be the Green Button and place them here? That would help make this a one stop shop.

Hi epete welcome.

Unfortunately all that info is in Microsofts wallet and is their property.

Our aim is not to 'take over' what is rightfully Microsofts but to create a new, easy eye candy, informative and pleasurable place to come and chat about all things Media center and related tech. I doubt we could ever emulate what TGB used to be, but this is certainly a step in the right direction :)

Good idea on having a subforum for encoding / converting etc..

Let us know if you lose another post, hopefully it was just a glitch while things are still being tweaked here and there!

When you say it is their property... the answers to the questions where provided my the members, some even by me,
should per-chance the same question be asked again, who is to say that it wouldn't be answered using the same, words, spelling
grammar etc etc... they where afterall OUR words.

The old greenbutton was starting to suffer from too much legacy... and too many old threads that where not relevant... the
reborn GreenButton might be a leaner and meaner opportunity.

Dare I say even say, I wouldn't even have XP or Vista forums!! But do create an 8MC forum we have about 1.5 years of speculation
to gossip about :)

Okay, the odd post has been going for moderation when it shouldn't be. I will keep an eye in things.

Welcome BuellPilot, glad you could make it.

It's their 'land' so to speak, just like over here belongs to hb and makryger. For instance, they could pull the site down, and you would not have any rights to get your posts back! I certainly see your point of view though and of course there will be duplication of some information between sites of similar interests!
