It's just recorded a wad of six Cosmic Vistas (OASISHD) Friday through Saturday. They all have the same episode title and description leading me to believe it's recorded the same episode six times. They are in fact all different episodes, that are repeats and all been recorded before (I have seen them), described as the same episode. They must have different ID's to have made MC record them(?).

Messy!

I got one day of updates to take me through the 14th. And that's it, no updates since. They may claim it's fixed, but don't believe it until you see more than one day actually work.

I noticed this last time the guide got short as well.. It seems that different time zones get updates at different times. When others were reporting many days of guide listings after manual updates mine were still only showing a few days left and it took a day or so for my guide to get updated like the rest.

K, i'm getting the same errors other's are getting now:
Failed to retrieve EpgListings (Error: HeadendId 28515161 is invalid.)

Only thing is, i seem to have data for my QAM channels i'm only not getting guide data for my Cable Card channels. the guide says i have data out through 6/20 but my manual updates all fail.

Anyone have any thoughts?

I have seen posts of head ends disappearing, what sometimes works is to use the ZIP code of your local cable office in tuner setup. Warning, if you try re-setting up your tuner and there is no valid zip code in your area, you may not be able to set up the tuner. So I would highly recommend doing a drive image backup of you system drive before trying that, so that you can restore to it.

My EPG hasn't updated in October. Sept 30th was the last time it did.

FWIW... My EPG is updating okay. I checked it last night, and it goes out until Oct 15... which is how far it goes out on zap2it.
Any errors in your logfile? Do you have logging turned on for your scheduled tasks? This would be a good starting point.

No errors, just no updating. I think it might be country specific. UK & maybe some in Canada

There was a problem last week where I was down to 9 days (normal is 11 - 13), but it's okay now.

My Guide updates have stopped and the Epglisting is not updating. The error reports HeadenID 28516637 is invalid. Anyone here have a fix?

I got an answer that worked for me...all I had to do was re-run the TV Signal setup in Windows Media Center.

Good to here.

Yes for some reason mate, I have had to re-run the tuners setup twice this year to fix the headenID issue.

looks like my EPG is getting really messed up, with it completely going empty every couple days. not sure whats up with that, as it was running fine the last few weeks. Have shows I want to record, that cant happen with a faulty EPG.

1) Will need to check it daily, and may need to program it via SETTINGS-TV-SETUP TV SIGNAL to load up all the channels, and then to get it to download the EPG automatically. Will watch it and report if it fails again. Maybe a WIN7 update is causing problems.

2) This can take some time to reprogram WMC, as I have a COMCAST set top digital box, which frequently is not recognized by WMC during setup. My IR BLASTER gets ignored frequently, which requires me to pull it from the existing USB connection, and put it in another connection. Weird how USB blaster drivers work so poorly. Eventually it works and i can get it to change channels correctly. Anyone have a suggestion for a IR remote that has a great universal controller, and a great IR blaster with updated WIN7 drivers?

Just found GUIDETOOL http://1geek1tool.com/guidetool

Registered GUIDETOOL for $5 and will now backup my channels, and restore them, if I have problems again. this takes 30 seconds to do, versus fifteen minutes to try reprogramming everything with WMC.

Hmm, Microsoft just did a complete rebuild to my WMC, it was and is still working great. The update removed then later replacing all the guide information after running the client maintainer.

Guidetool is very nice to use.

It seems the problem has reappeared for UK users as all listings I receive for Astra 28.2 only go up to 31st December 2012. I've opened up a feedback item on MS Connect but I don't hold up much hope. Recently the listings for Ireland disappeared altogether, and there's not one response to the feedback item opened up for that one with several replies from similarly affected customers.

Hi. I have been having problems with Guide updates for the past two weeks. I have a HP Paviion desktop with XP media 2005. I keep getting error 33 when it tries to update (auto or manually). Have read all your posts. I am missing (under windows\ehome) file mcupdate.exe and I believe this can be my issue. Tried to get this file online but could not. I do have disk backups of computer when first bought. But I do not know how to pull out just one file. Could someone on this board help me?

I'm also missing guide data after NYE and have added a comment to the Connect ticket. With Crimbo next week I'm going to struggle to be positive on this one getting fixed in time.

sailinjack, it's four years since I ran MCE2005, but I don't recall mcupdate being part of that version. The guide data provided by MS has changed since XP days, this program could be a new one. Certainly, unless you've gone around deleting files in the eHome directory, nothing should have removed that file if it did exist.

Didn't we have this last year too? Basically the guy that does the listings goes on holiday and so we don't get any guide data. I think it came right last year with just a a couple of days remaining.

I don't think whatever's happening now is as widespread. I experienced the previous outages, but right now I have 12 days as usual.
