Custom channel listings?

#1

Post by Stubbertville » Tue Jan 09, 2024 10:23 pm

I have a channel that I broadcast cable channel 26 on, and I want to make custom guide data that’s just a 24/7 weather channel listing, is there a way to do that? Thank you!

You can create your own MXF containing a custom lineup, a single service+channel and a unique program with one or multiple schedules (that will typically have a very long duration).
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/previ ... v=msdn.10) should put you on the right track

Nice, would that also work along epg123?

I don't use EPG123 on a daily basis (SD's lineups for France are sadly not "as good" as the US EPG ), but I don't see why it wouldn't work.

It should work fine alongside EPG123 assuming that channel is not being populated by it. It might be worth posting in the EPG123 sub forum to see if Gary can offer any guidance. He might even consider adding an enhancement to help with this scenario.

The EPG123 client doesn't care where the data comes from... it just shows what is currently in your database. So no problem there. If you create your own mxf file and import it into the database, you'll get what you want.

I wondered if there was a way that EPG123 could help automate the process and incorporate the generation of the “dummy” EPG. Perhaps a bit of a fringe case though. I imagine the same could be achieved with a bit of a script and a scheduled task.

oh ok, thank you! would it also be possible to include it with the my ota tv data? or smth like that? Would you even consider adding an option for a custom channel line up in your software?

Should be fine so long as the channels being updated are different, and you schedule the updates at different times.
