Hi
I have a strange problem: WMC do not detect any TV channels from room antenna.
My TV tuner is Hauppauge HVR-5525. It is connected to cable TV STB (by Composite) and to indoor antenna. In my region (I'm living in Warsaw, Poland) previously were both DVB-T and DVB-T2 standard channels available. On each reinstallation or configuration WMC has been detect some DVB-T channels. Do not detect any DVB-T2 channels (or maybe not identify them as DVB-T2?). December 18, 2023, all DVB-T channels changed standard to DVB-T2. Now WMC doesn't detect any TV channels from antenna.
I have also installed WinTV 10 (manufacturer's TV software) - it detects a lot of DVB-T2 channels so I can watch both cable TV and DVB-T2. Why WMC can't detect any?
(My machine Gigabyte Z390 GAMING-X mainboard; Intel Core9400T 1,8 GHz processor; 16 GB RAM; Nvidia GTX 1050Ti graphic; SSD WD Blue 1 TB. Windows 11 is latest Insider test compilation v.26020; on previous was the same problem).

Does WinTV give you details of the signal strength/quality? I’m wondering if these are lower than the threshold Media Center is expecting.

Unfortunately, not, or I don't know how to check it. I'm sure that signal wouldn't be strong - I'm living in the block of flats, surrounded by other blocks. But previously, before DVB-T/ DVB-T2 change, WMC could detect some channels. I thought that DVB-T/DVB-T2 only concerned encoding and had nothing to do with signal strength. Isn't true?

I’m no expert, but I believe the differences are mainly in how the bit stream is constructed and broadcast. DVB-T2 allows for a much larger bit rate. So you could have more TV channels sharing a single mux stream now. The switch is likely to have also changed the channel broadcast frequency (MHz). This can start to cause reception problems due to environmental factors and interference from other services like mobile masts. Different aerials, boosters and filters can sometimes help with this. Are you able to temporarily hang the antenna out of a window during the scanning stage?
It is odd though if WinTV can detect and receive them fine. I found this similar post from a couple of years ago from someone having trouble when Italy switched to DVB-T2. Perhaps there is some issue with the Hauppauge Media Center (BDA) drivers?

In my WinTV start menu folder I have signal monitors for each of my tuner devices. Within the WinTV program I can select settings and then look at a more granular view of each individual channel. YMMV
