Today I was confronted by this in the error log:

The token the server had was invalidated. When it tried to validate the token it had it got the message from SD that it was expired. It then tried to request a new token but timed-out after 5 minutes without a response from the service. Check your service.log file to see if anything was logged when trying to communicate with SD.

Sorry, false-alarm-ish. I installed 1.8.0.7 and all is back to working again.

There was a message on SD about a price hike. I'm good to November.
