UK BBC One HD Change

#1

Post by IT Troll » Wed May 10, 2023 11:11 pm

The BBC have launched regional HD variants of BBC One in England. These new channels will have new call signs and station IDs.

Unexpectedly, Scotland also got a new call sign and ID despite the existing regional channel remaining unchanged. It looks like SD provided listings under both the old (BBC1SCH) and new (BBC1SHD) call signs for a period, but now are only providing the new. I only realised once a couple of programmes failed to record because the channel listing disappeared.

As a follow up to this change, Freeview are now swapping the SD and HD channel numbers over on certain supported devices. Apparently this is using a feature called Channel List Management which I suspect is done on the local device based on data received. So far the channel numbers on the Schedules Direct feed haven't changed.
