Time discontinuity?

Someone mentioned time discontinuities recently and I replied that they're "normal" and usually clear out pretty quickly. When I included the report to substantiate my claim I noticed that I had more recently than usual. I ran a report this morning and realized I am seeing quite a few.

I've noticed that around 2/3 of my total annual time discontinuities this year have occurred within approximately the last three weeks starting on the last day of August (line 16). I had network issues on September 5, 6, and 11 so EPG123 didn't run, but I'll bet there would have been at least some on one of those days.

Has anyone else noticed an increase in time discontinuities?

I opened a ticket about it with SD on Sunday since it's been happening on almost every schedule update for weeks now, and on anywhere from a couple to dozens of channels. Yet to get a response back from SD on my ticket.

It affects mostly local channels for me and often creates large gaps of up to almost an entire day in those channel listings. These are usually 4-5 days out from the current day and it does typically correct itself. But that makes it hard to not have to start doing daily checks of scheduled recordings to make sure something isn't missed since I'm mostly recording from local channels. Time to start complaining to SD, lol.

Most likely because the discontinuity starts at the first entry of the day, and the "day" is the day according to GMT, midnight GMT is 8pm EDT.

When we receive the "Skipping verification of this station's schedule entries." does that mean no schedule is created for that channel?

Let's say our schedule is fully populated into the future and then we receive the "skipping" error for a channel, does that mean our previous schedule, and the related scheduled recordings, for that channel are wiped until it succeeds?

The verification process just goes through the mxf file and compares to what is in the WMC database. If there are differences, epg123 will change what is in the database to match the mxf. Since epg123 is aware that there is an error in the mxf file (discontinuity), it will skip verifying that channel since it doesn't know what is right/wrong. What is in WMC is what it decided to accept/reject during the import.

I just had my own discontinuities this morning. The previous ones we had issues with were primarily due to overlaps from the last program ending time from one day overlapping the start time of the first program of the next day. The discontinuities I have are different and there are actually gaps. The day's schedule is incomplete so there could be hours in the day where there are no programs in the guide.

I send SD a message with an example so hopefully they can track it down and correct it.

Per above I filed a ticket with SD last Sunday about the same thing. I sent them an example of a run log along with screen caps of the schedule on one of the channels mentioned in the log for that day showing the missing schedule data that results. On some channels it's "No Data Available" for almost an entire day, so any series recording on that date and channel will not be recorded unless the schedule gets filled in by a later update. Today was about the worst I've seen with maybe ~20 channels reporting time discontinuity errors.

No reply from SD about my ticket yet.

Are there any updates from SD? I'm still receiving these almost every day for some of my "major network" channels. Needless to say this is where the majority of my recordings occur.

Contrary to other reports I haven't noticed any "No Data Available" cells in the affected grids, and future recordings still appear to be scheduled.

I guess I'm lucky until it actually becomes and issue for me.

SD got back to me on my original ticket Monday saying they thought they had found the problem and corrected it. Was I still having the trouble? Over the weekend I didn't have any time discontinuities but starting with Tuesday and now today it was about as bad as I've seen. That pattern is typical for me. Weekends seems to be "cleaner" than weekdays. Also mostly concentrated on my local channels too. So I replied to SD the last 2 days with log results and that things are not yet fixed. Expect it to continue until they track the cause down. They are aware and looking into it though.

No further replies to my ticket after the last time I posted about it here. I have the same continuing issue of ~5-20 channels per day reporting a discontinuity. Occasionally none but those cases do generally happen on weekends or Monday. I've told SD all that and given them several days' logs with days/times/channels. I assume it's on their radar still.
