Failure updating guide data

The guide data has not updated the last several days. I downloaded the latest build, version 1.6.4.2. And still getting errors. I look at the log file, but don't understand the problem.

Looks like your WMC database is corrupt. You can try to run from a command prompt "START /WAIT c:\windows\ehome\mcupdate.exe -dbgc", wait for it to complete and then try again. That sometimes fixes the database. If that doesn't work, open the client and click the [Rebuild WMC Database] button.

Thank you for the prompt response. I did this and it worked, but it loaded the wrong lineup. It loaded an old antenna lineup and not the newer cable lineup. How do I get it to take a different Lineup? It still has the cable lineup, but it is not loading it.

Not sure what your current state is. If you open the client, are your cable channels on the left side? Or is it that the lineups on the right side only has your OTA lineup and not your cable lineup?

Weird. So either your database corruption was worse than it looked and wasn't able to create a backup, or epg123 restored the wrong backup. Click the [Restore] button in the client and select the most recent backup zip file which should have been when you clicked the [Rebuild WMC Database] button. If you get the same results, you can try an older backup file but I wouldn't get my hopes up.

The backup files are only created automatically when you start a client setup or use the rebuild button. Of course, they will also be created when you click the [Backup] button as well.

I could never get the cable lineup to come up so I did a fresh install and it is working. How can I now delete the thousand of channels I don't get and see only the 125 I do get? Is there a way in the guide to delete many stations at once? Say select, shift select, delete? I don't care about SD, Spanish, and hundreds of others.

You don't need to delete them, just disable them. It sounds like you do not have automatch enabled, so just open the client and click the Match by: [# Number] button on the left side and it should disable all channels in the guide that does not have any guide listings mapped to them.

I have Comcast Starter Lineup which does not include 1000s of stations that I get when I bring in the Lineup. The Program doesn't know I only have 125 of those stations and downloads program data I don't get. I unsubscribed from the stations I don't get. But they come back up as subscribed. Is there any way to save the Guide Channels to a file I could reinstall if the Guide comes back up with subscribed channels I don't get or don't want?

There are many ways to address this.

Check to see if you should be subscribed to a different lineup. Some areas will have both the "starter" lineup and the full digital lineup. If so, change your lineup to the starter and it will more than likely eliminate the 1000 and up channels.

If SD does not have the starter lineup available, then rather than unsubscribe the channel, just disable the channel in the client. In fact, in the client you can select all the channels that are 1000+ using keyboard shift and mouse click, and then just hit the spacebar to toggle the checkbox status for those channels until they are all unchecked.

They keep coming back because even though you unsubscribe in the client, the automatch routine will map guide listings to any channel that does not have listings already mapped to it if the channel numbers match. That is why you want to disable the channel rather than unsubscribing.

There is no starter channel option. I am in the Client Guide Tool. The lineup service (right panel) show channels 2-3000. I have selected in the Guide Channel with Custom Labels (left Panel) the channels I don't want. The are highlighted. I hit the spacebar and the checkbox is unselected on those channels. Doesn't this unsubscribe them and they will come back since they are still in the Lineup service (right panel)? I don't see a way to delete them from right panel.

The checkboxes on the left side are to enable/disable the channel in your guide. They will stay in the database, just won't be viewable in the guide.

The right side of the client is a reflection of what you are downloading from Schedules Direct. The only way to get rid of those channels is to use the configuration GUI to stop downloading stations within the lineup. Note the configuration selections are to download stations and has nothing to do with channel numbers.

I am again having issues with the guide data not updating. My guide runs out in 2 days. I updated EPG123 to the latest release, restarted the computer and tried to update. I still get a red EPG saying there was a problem. When I read the log file I see the MXB file is 260 hours old. Here is the file.

Here is the latest manual update. The problem seems to be the program can't find an object and so loads the old MXF file. This occurs at 5:04:41. I'm running out of guide. How can I fix this?

Having problems getting my listing data in WMC. No errors have started from scratch and cleared cache etc. several times. mxf file looks like it has current data.

Gonna need a little more information. Is the MXF file being imported? Does the log show any errors? Do you have no listings, or does it look like it is not getting any new updates?

I have no listings. I ran out of listings about 2 weeks ago and haven't had the time to see why. Here's logs from the run this morning.
