As far as I know, MediaBrowser cannot read the metadata in a video file, like WMC can. MediaBrowser reads metadata from a mymovies.xml file. In Media Browser, you need to name your folders a certain way, so that MediaBrowser will automatically download the metadata. You can download metadata manually using a utility called Media Center Master.

For movies, simply name the folder the title of the movie. C:\Movies\Movie Title
For TV series, your folder structure should be C:\TV Series\Series Title\Season 1\101 - Episode 1.dvr-ms

+1 on the folder structure and file naming.. this is important for it to work correctly!
For Metadata I use Media Center Master with Media Browser. Works really well. If you are installing the latest version of MB they are changing the way metadata is handled. Soon they will no longer be able to read the mymovies.xml and they are moving to movie.xml instead. Media Center Master will be updated soon to address this issue. Alternately you can use metabrowser to get metadata for MB as well. More info on this below from MB site RE the latest release:
Important Notes:
•This version will only install on Windows 7 systems. Hydra marked the end of our Vista support.

•3D Movies Support in Media Browser: what you should know

•Due to changes made in MyMovies 4.02 we will not be able to process mymovies.xml files anymore when the user is using the MyMovies Backend Collection Management Tool. As of 4.02 their software encrypts the mymovies.xml files making them unreadable by third party applications.
We therefore will be looking for movie.xml in favor of mymovies.xml. There is backwards compatibility with the old filename, but it is recommended to make the change to the new metadata filename as soon as possible. Both MCM and MetaBrowser should have updates soon to take care of this for you. More information can be found here:
