Duplicate Channel Entries

#1

Post by morgan » Sat Jan 04, 2020 1:41 am

The program guide has duplicate channel entries for a few of the channels.

Most of the errors have two listings. A couple of three or even four listings.

Not sure how to answer.

I have set up the guide using four listings. There is only one call sign for each channel, but when it imports, there are more than one listing.

I have over the air and cable tuners set up.

Examples:

X2
Lifetime Movies, Oxygen

X3
COZI

X4
CBS

Okay, so you have 4 lineups, do you have a cable, ota, satellite, and ? I think what you are seeing is the fact you have 4 lineups and not all the channel number in those 4 lineups are the same for the duplicated channels.

So let's first decide if you need all 4.

I( dropped to two lineups. Still have two channels, for example, CBS. One is standard and one is HD in the listings. I only have one selected in EPG with a single guide listing subscribed.

Okay, this might be easy to explain, but I need some more tangible details. What are your 2 lineups, and what are the 2 channel numbers for CBS that you are seeing?

Orlndo-Dytna Beach OTA antenna and Charter Spectrum Orange County.

Both channels in the guide are the same: 6.1. When I mouse-over, one is WKMG and the other is WKMG-DT.

That's interesting. Do you have OTA and QAM?

Ah, since we denied the Program Guide Terms of Service, and no longer get tuner setup information from MS/Rovi, the ATSC, ClearQAM, Digital Cable, or whatever tuner channels are not automatically merged. You will either need to merge them yourself in WMC, or keep them separated as you see currently.

I have not added the capability to merge channels in EPG123, yet. I don't know if I every will, but here is how you do it in WMC.

settings->TV->Guide->Edit Channels
Select the channel to merge into another
Edit Listings
Select the channel to merge with (you will see the channel number)
Select 'Combine channel X.X with channel YYY'

Thanks for the info.

When I tried to merge the channels, WMC kept hanging or crashing.

I decided to start from scratch.

Thanks for taking the time to explain. I hope it goes more smoothly this time.
