HDHomerun DVR Service for EPG123

#1

Post by passinos » Wed Jan 01, 2020 7:06 pm

What is the process to use my $35/year subscription to Silicon Dust HDHomerun DVR Service in place of Schedule Direct for EPG123?

Just install EPG123 to include the HDHR2MXF component and follow the normal installation. The HDHR2MXF program will take place of the epg123.exe used for Schedules Direct.

Follow this video for hdhr2mxf: http://epg123.garyan2.net/media/hdhr2mxf_setup.mp4

Okay, could you send me the 2 files in your output folder to support@garyan2.net?

C:\ProgramData\GaRyan2\epg123\output\epg123.mxf
C:\ProgramData\GaRyan2\epg123\output\hdhr2mxf.xmltv

Thanks.

I see that. Could you open a command prompt and run the following command?

C:\Program Files (x86)\epg123\hdhr2mxf.exe -update

Let's see what is printed to the screen during this. It is failing to create the file, hence why there was a problem importing it.

Well, that could be a problem. Do you not see the network or do you not have any SiliconDust HDHomeRun tuners?

I do not have one attached to the system. I could hook one up but I am using a Ceton for the tuner
My original post was viewtopic.php?f=99&t=12628 and somehow we moved to this post.

If you connect the tuner to the network, and it is registered for the DVR service, then that will work. You don't need to have WMC use the HDHR tuner... the tuner just needs to be there in order to get authorization to download the data.

That is why your downloaded guide is empty... the tuner can't tell SiliconDust what stations it needs. Can you click the No Channels text and tell it to Scan or Detect Channels? I don't know what the Primes will look like.

I think my problem is I have 3 standalone PCs.
Win 10 with HDHomerun DVR
Two Win 7 WMC

Could I use the Win 10 with DVR service as the server and the other 2 as the client for EPG123?
might just be easier to buy Direct Schedule

From a technical standpoint, yes, you can have the Win10 machine run EPG123/HDHR2MXF to create the MXF file as the server and the other 2 as clients. So there is no problem there.

I would say for setup, HDHR2MXF is easier because there is nothing to configure. For the WMC experience, Schedules Direct provides a lot more information to make some features in WMC work that much better. I do have a graphic in a couple posts comparing what you get with both to compare with each other.
