EPG123 client setup step 2 (TV setup)
I am attempting to setup epg123 and seem to be getting stuck on the "TV setup" step 2 of the client "clean setup" steps.
I have run the client setup clean start step 1, and then step 2 which opens up WMC with a setup button.
I am asked to select my region (USA) and zipcode (07035) and then I decline the Terms of service. After that it's stuck on "WMC is downloading the latest TV setup data for your region" with no hint of progress visible.
Does anyone know how long this takes or should take, or should I start over with a different zip code?
Could it be that this part no longer works due to microsoft shutting stuff down?

Sometimes the MS servers can be non-responsive for the "Downloading..." stage. A work-around that I have found is to right before you click 'OK' when denying the Program Guide Terms of Service, disconnect/disable your network. If you have a network, WMC will just sit there forever but if you do not have a network available for that stage, it will timeout and let you proceed after another prompt shown below. Re-enable/reconnect your network and wait a few seconds before clicking 'OK' on that prompt.

Thanks,
I tried a nearby zip code which didn't work and then zipcode "00000" and it seems to have moved somewhat on the progress bar now.

Using zipcode 00000 is another alternative method, but I couldn't remember if it always worked in this case... and would only be useful for US users. I don't know what international users would have to use for the postal code.

well after many too many stalled configuration attempts, I rebooted windows and disabled the AV and firewall and was able to use zip code 00000 and set up the tuners.
After that all went well and I now have listings and converted series all set up for the next two weeks.

I"m having the SAME problem today. I installed EPG123, paid for a year of Schedules Direct... blah blah blah.
I can't get past the downloading TV setup data!!! WTF!!!
I have disabled my windows firewall, rebooted, entered the 00000 zip code, disabled my LAN, and it's still hanging.
From my experience with over 15 years of using WMC, if I take a coffee break, walk my dog, ponder the meaning of life... then come back to my HTPC, things will eventually work out.
We'll see.

Are you sure you disconnected the LAN at the right time? You have to do it before you deny the terms of service.

Yes, I have the network enabled at the beginning so Windows can see my networked tuners. Then when I'm on the zip code page, I disable the LAN adapter.
STILL hanging.

Oh boy! I got it to finish, but then I forgot to reenable the LAN and the whole setup failed!
I went through the process again and enabled the LAN after the download failed message.
I'm all good now. I have all my guide listings correctly for the next 14 days.
WMC FTW!!!
Thanks guys!

This maybe related to the fact that MS has removed the link to the Guide Terms of Service from their servers(Error 404) and WMC tries to download it to show it to you.
When I go to Settings-->TV-->Guide-->Guide Terms of Service, I get an error: "No Internet Connection". I haven't updated my Win7 for few months.
Checking Event Viewer I see this error:
Exception Microsoft.MediaCenter.UI.HostLoadException: Error while attemping to load: 'http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=145765'.
Details:
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=145765: Failure acquiring MCML markup from 'http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=145765'. (The remote server returned an error: (404) Not Found.)

Trying to do a new full install today on 1/2/20 and Step 2 says "No Internet Connection"! I do have one and it is set up on WMC.
I suspect it's because Microsoft took down the server. But I can't continue past that point! Help anyone?

Where is it giving you that message? What part of Step 2 within WMC?

Obviously, I should have installed before 1/1/20.

That link has been dead for quite a while... well be before yesterday. You will the Program Guide Terms of Service when you are performing the TV Setup during Step 2.

Nevermind! I jest exited Guide Terms of Service, and executed EPG123 Client, then did Manual Update and that fixed it. Thanks for your help!

I spent a good part of the day trying, but I can't get passed the "WMC is downloading the latest TV setup data for your region" and there's no hint of any progress visible. I've tried the disconnect network cable at both the zip code entry and the "Terms of Service," but no progress happens. I have done this with & without MS AV & Firewall running. I've also tried both my zip code and 00000. Is there no way to automate a way around this?
Using the latest download epg123Setup_v1.3.4.0.exe
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
I have two other WMC HTPC's and I can't even get the client to launch (Run as Administrator) on them.

No way to automate around that I've seen. Try running "start /wait c:\windows\ehome\mcupdate.exe -uf -nogc" from a command prompt and when done, try again. Maybe this will force something.
