I'll definitely see if it's viable. Thanks for the suggestion.

The next version of UI+ is almost ready. ModernMedia TV is currently planned for this summer but is subject to change.

Version 1.2 of ModernMedia UI+ has been released along with a new resource build (190609). This release adds an option to load data from AllMovie, which is intended to be a replacement for the Rovi-sourced extended metadata that Microsoft has announced will be discontinued. Rotten Tomatoes scores are also restored following recent changes to their system that prevented them from loading.
The new build offers many improvements across the WMC interface:
1. With the aforementioned setting for AllMovie metadata enabled in UI+, movie reviews will display an AllMovie rating, production studio and distributor alongside the review when available.
2. Minor adjustments have been made to ensure consistency of program episode information displayed in various areas of WMC.
3. When opening the synopsis of a new program, supplemental program data from the previously viewed program will be cleared more quickly.
4. An issue with program data not being displayed when viewed in certain aspect ratios should be resolved.
5. Blue elements displayed during music playback have been removed, and the background color for digital audio content from TV has been changed to black.
6. An AAC audio indicator is now shown in the info bar if the current media contains an AAC audio stream (only applies to live and recorded TV).

Do the movie files need a particular naming convention in order to get allmovies data? Is there a certain file layout for movie lookup? Thanks.

As long as the movie is titled correctly, the AllMovie metadata should load. It uses the same method as Rotten Tomatoes to retrieve the data. If you are seeing RT scores, you should get AllMovie data as well.

Hello, great work on the new release - RT ratings are now back and the other review and meta data is showing perfectly. Thanks for all you do
I have a question though - I'm not sure if it changed on the new release or when i had to reinstall my OS recently but my Weather is showing for London and it should be Bristol. Is there a method to get this to show the local weather? I have no idea if it affects it but I do have the Windows 10 weather app set to Bristol as default etc But i still get London on the MSN weather screen of MMUI+
Thanks
Ant

There is currently no option to override the location for weather. It is automatically determined based on your IP address; however, I have noticed that the service will occasionally return a nearby city instead of the actual location. If your IP has changed, it may have caused the detected location to change.aquadextrous wrote: ↑Tue Jun 11, 2019 11:39 pm my Weather is showing for London and it should be Bristol. Ah that may make sense. I have recently switched from a fixed line ADSL connection to 4G LTE Broadband and I know from my mobile phone that the ip on 4g doesn't always put me in the right location.
Thanks for the info!
Edit: I checked online and indeed my ISP gives me an IP with a location of London - only about 110 miles out!

Minor but annoying issue: The Evaluation Copy nag periodically returns. Most recent example was today after updating EPG123 and then relaunching media center. Also happens if you (having quit media center) open the ModernMediaUI+ app and click check for update next to resources. Is there any solution other than a total reboot?

This seems to be a result of Media Center occasionally timing out when checking the UI+ activation status, after which the watermark is displayed. It can happen during startup when resources are being used to initialize tuners and services, which likely have a higher priority than data fetching. A fix will be included in the next release to ensure the element is no longer shown for activated copies.

Just updated my Windows 7 pc and WMC is crashing with Modern Media UI.
WMC popped up a warning about the EPG data expiring after January 2020.
The entire theme reverted back to the blue with the old look. When you hit guide, WMC completely crashes!

The update Microsoft pushed to notify users about the upcoming EPG retirement seems to have impacted resources used by ModernMedia UI+. I would recommend unchecking "Enable Theme" in the app to restore the original Media Center files that were in place prior to using the modern theme. After opening WMC to make sure it is functioning properly, you can try enabling the theme again.joelkirzner wrote: ↑Sun Sep 29, 2019 11:54 pm Just updated my Windows 7 PC and WMC is crashing with Modern Media UI.

That worked! Thanks so much and let's keep WMC alive past January 2020!W10MC wrote: ↑Tue Oct 01, 2019 3:55 amThe update Microsoft pushed to notify users about the upcoming EPG retirement seems to have impacted resources used by ModernMedia UI+. For ModernMedia UI+, if my EPG123 installation is at c:\EPG123\ and the files are outputted to c:\EPG123\Output, which of these paths should be entered into the "Load Supplemental Program Data from EPG123"

In this case, you would use C:\EPG123 for the path.
