Duplicate channels

This is just a CableCard oddity that you may not be aware of.

On Spectrum with a CableCard, SchedulesDirect rightfully lists a number of channels with two different channel number series; 2-digit as well as 3-4-digit series. Both series actually address the same channel's frequencies and have the same call sign. When I initially setup ShcedulesDirect and first ran EPG123, I had both series enabled. Since then, on SchedulesDirect I have de-selected the 2-digit series, so as to use only the higher order number series. In EPG123, both the lower and higher order channel numbers are displayed in my lineup. I double-checked SchedulesDirect and the low-order channels are indeed disabled.

In EPG123, if I de-select a low-order channel, both high and low-order channels are deselected; selecting either enables both again. Is this behavior due to a carryover from my original lineup that I can eliminate in some way? Obviously, I can clean things up in WMC by editing channels, so it is no big deal.

Thanks.

This is by design.

Your high channels and low channels are the exact same stations. In EPG123, you are not subscribing to a channel but to a station and since the same station is on multiple channels, you get them all. Doing it this way guarantees that if your provider moves a station from channel 2 to channel 1002, your guide will follow the change with no user interaction needed (assuming automatch is enabled). If you don't want to see the lower channels in the guide, then you can select all of them on the left side of the client (shift-click and/or ctrl-click work) and press the space bar to toggle the checkbox for those channels. This will disable those channels in your guide.

BTW: Disabling channels on the Schedules Direct website only changes the XML server. EPG123 uses the JSON server so it has no impact. There is no user configurations saved for the JSON server and is all handled by 3rd-party software (EPG123).
