Anniversary Update Compatibility
Is there any word yet on if whether the Media Center will still work OK with the forthcoming Anniversary Update for Windows 10. I know it is not out yet but perhaps someone on the fast ring has already tried?

Thanks that is good to hear. This forced upgrade business with Win10 does give me reservations for using it for my HTPC.

I'm running 2 HTPC's right now. I'm not dumping Win7 till the wheels fall off. I disagree with these guys that upgrade the main rig to Win10, too risky for me, and I never have been a big fan of upgrades. Scrape it off, sand it down, a little primer, throw on a fresh 10, and build it right.IT Troll wrote:Thanks that is good to hear. 1) Win7/Infini4/Ceton Echo's
2) Win10/HDHR-3CC/Xbox360 (Build 10586.0)

I think I remember reading that last year's November TH2 Update silently removed Media Center from Windows 10 during the upgrade process. Similar to the behaviour when upgrading from Windows 7/8 but without the warning.
I suspect that the Anniversary Update will do the same. So I guess this means WMC10 users need to be prepared to reinstall and reconfigure after every upgrade. Sounds a bit painful if that's the case.

It appears to me that the Fall Update and likely the upcoming Anniversary Update are not Upgrades at all. It appears to be more like a Sheriff Assisted Eviction. They walk in, bag all your stuff, and throw it on the curb, format the drive, put in a new OS, and leave you a note as to what was removed. About the only thing they do leave is the User Accounts, and most of the time, the accounts are screwed up resulting in a Reset/DontSaveTheFiles, and rebuild.IT Troll wrote:I think I remember reading that last year's November TH2 Update silently removed Media Center from Windows 10 during the upgrade process. This is not surprising to me. What do we expect for free? Don't look for bargains when shopping for Toilet Paper and Operating Systems.
BTW...a couple guys in the insider program report...DVB tuners are recognized, and allow installation of drivers, encryption not working. HDHR-3CC is not recognizable, unable to install drivers. This Win10 game is more difficult than Chess.

Correction.....unable to install drivers is incorrect. No tuners in WMC Setup is more precise. I am working on getting some real answers.Crash2009 wrote:It appears to me that the Fall Update and likely the upcoming Anniversary Update are not Upgrades at all. Which HDHR driver did you use? When I tried the 063016 beta version, I had the same issue with it not finding the HDHR-3CC Tuners. I uninstalled & installed the 0821615 driver & it seemed to work. Mind you this was with the 10586.0 release (The one to use in the instructions to get extenders to work)

Uggg. Not good. You think SD will perhaps create drivers to fix? I know they don't have to but it would be nice.Crash2009 wrote:WMC will not detect HDHR-3CC in Build 14393 and earlier (Insider Preview).

I suspect you will have to reinstall at the very least.
