Recording quality settings in WMC?

#1

Post by ala1970 » Sat Oct 24, 2015 7:20 pm

Where are the Recording Quality Settings in WMC located now? When I initially set up my tuners, there was a recording defaults setting that I set to "Fair," so that recordings would take the least amount of space possible. I have now set up the tuners of an HDHomerun. The recordings are taking more space and I'm not sure why. I wanted to see if it had somehow changed from Fair. However, I can't find that setting. Any other suggestions on making recordings take less space would also be appreciated. Thanks

Those settings were back in the analog days, when something--tuner card of computer itself--had to transcode the analog signal to a digital file. How it converted the analog signal was where you got the "Recording Quality" setting.

No more analog signal means no more transcoding. Recording is simply streaming the existing digital stream to disc. It is what it is.
