Maybe I'm not reading this right....but does this mean someone could create a program to do guide data??

Also has this guide really been around since July of 2009 and were just noticing it?

I am futzing with it as we speak trying to load new mxf data pulled from Schedules Direct (Zap2it) and poke it into the guide DB.

edit/ using an OLD Zap2it channel lineup which is 100% correct.

Why not get a trial of Big Screen EPG? That's what it does. Takes the XMLTV and stuffs it into media center format.

^ I have tried, that was my first attempt. It doesn't appear to replace or update any cable card guide data.

I think it's because BigScreenEPG is unable to hook into what is a much more protected tuner/channel/guide setup that is CableCard.

For instance, in MC7 you get limited options tweaking lineups on CableCard, then you do other tuners.

It looks like it may not be lacking the functionality to do it but just that it's not so simple to get it to work immediately when there's been pre-existing schedule data. You may need a clean install to get it to work, either way perhaps.

Yes, unfortunately there lies a catch22. A clean install requires a fresh setup which pulls lineup from Rovi and starts the ball rolling incorrectly...for me at least.

Here's where I am right now and it looks good at first glance:

C:\Windows\ehome>loadmxf -i bse-epgdata.mxf
Loading... 100%
C:\Windows\ehome>

My temporary issue now is mc2xml defaults to a 7 day pull of Schedule Direct data, and I already had guide data past that.
I will need to try this again in a couple of days to see if my guide data stays 7 days ahead. Saying that after the import, the guide looks completely fine.

I think STC's awesome guide experiments are worthy of their own thread.

I wish we had an option to use Schedules Direct. I already have a 9 months left and wouldn't mind paying $20 a year for a guide that works and a guy like Robert (I think that's his name) that actually supports his program.

Did you try to run CLI with options for listing duration, or possibly start time and duration? (see, -d -s)

This could be due to a 7 day trial with Schedule Direct(?)

Hmm. So you mean even if you do "mc2xml -d 336" you only get 7 days worth?

So could Big Screen EPG load that schedule data correctly when you set MS schedules domains to localhost during set up or were you using the MS LoadXMF? Sorry I was a little unclear which steps you were trying here.

Nope. Said it worked, it didn't. Trying manually now.

I'm using BSEPG to create the xmf from mc2xml, then importing manually.
