Video Signal Drops
I have noticed that recently that on NBC in Baltimore MD that my video will drop out at time. I still have audio going to my receiver. It seems to happen during commercials but at times it happens during shows as well. Very random. I am thinking maybe a handshake problem between HTPC -> Receiver -> TV. Maybe when the resolution drops I will get no signal to my TV. It will come back. This has just started the past couple of days. I am using a nvidia 650 card and Gefen HDMI Detective Plus for about a year now and have not had this problem. When I rewind to the point it drops out the signal drops again at the same spot. Any ideas?

To me, same spot, and repeatable, points to the hard drive.okhomer wrote: When I rewind to the point it drops out the signal drops again at the same spot. Any ideas?
As a test, you could try recording to the SSD for a bit, to see if the problem goes away. I am assuming you are currently recording to a spinner.
