Strange CableCard pairing behavior?

#1

Post by pmrowley » Tue Nov 04, 2014 8:17 pm

I'm a little confused by this:

New InfiniTV6, called cable company to pair old cable card with new card.
During the pairing, the DATA address kept changing in the diagnostics from refresh to refresh. As of right now, the card is saying that it's communicating and valid, but if I try to tune to something on the tuner webpage, no programs come up, indicating that the CableCard isn't paired correctly. I would guess that the DATA address in the pairing is incorrect.

What's going on here?

Thanks,
-P

Just talked to Cox; apparently Motorola M cards will change their DATA address during unpairing. You have to wait to let it "settle" on its new address before re-pairing, or you'll end up chasing the DATA address all over the place.
