Guide Search always returns "No Results Were Found"

#1

Post by CMonster » Sun Oct 30, 2011 11:37 pm

When trying to add a recording by searching the guide, I always get "No Results Were Found." Occasionally it says that the Indexing Service isn't started but it's running and I can successfully search the computer for files without a problem. I've also made sure that WMC was in the included locations for indexing. Any suggestions?

Try running the two commands below in an elevated cmd prompt window

%windir%\ehome\ehprivjob /DoRegisterSearch

%windir%\ehome\ehprivjob /DoReindexSearchRoot

Let us know if it helps at all, the reindexing might take a while - there is no progress shown on screen

Thanks. I ran each of the commands and each completed (I got the command prompt) but WMC still says "No Results Were Found" when attempting to search the guide.

I assume that you closed/restarted MC, or rebooted to make sure?
Are you sure that the indexing service is definitely running?

Have you confirmed that a search result should actually exist? If you search for something that isn't in the guide, an empty result would be the expected result.

Yep. WMC wasn't open while the indexing was running. I've just rebooted and still nothing. I checked Service Manager and Indexing Service is started and set for automatic. I can search for documents and programs without a problem.

Did that too. I first go to the guide to find a program that's going to be on within the hour, then go to the search to look for it and I get the error message.
