'Polar vortex' causing signal issues?

#1

Post by JTScribe » Tue Jan 07, 2014 1:25 pm

I live in Indiana and ever since the weather started getting bad this weekend, my locals have had poor signals. I'm using Ceton InfiniTV 6 (most up to date drivers and firmware per the app) with Comcast. My SNR on the local channels is 35.2dB and the signal level is 10.1-10.3 dBmV.

Before I go through the headache of calling Comcast and explain to them how I'm watching digital cable without a cable box for the nth time, is anyone else around here having similar issues?

I'm in NW indiana with comcast not seeing the issue you have. Is your cable drop amped if it is you could be amplifying garbage causing more issues try removing the amp and see if helps out.

I have an amp that the Comcast rep installed due to a marginal signal on some of the premium channels. Removing it doesn't fix the issues on the locals, unfortunately.

I would think that you have a signal issue if your at 10 on some channels and have a marginal signal on others I would think that's much to far of a swing I would try to have comcast get your signal under control without an amp installed.

Yeah, maybe so. Ceton had me do some stuff on the web page and I noticed that the problematic channels are running around 7 whereas a channel that' s working well is around 16. Comcast wanted me to try another CableCard so I'm doing that now as well. Fingers crossed!
