Guide data with CableCard
Simple question: When using a cablecard, where does my guide/program data come from? I know some of it comes from the microsoft update service, but I seem to recall some data comes from the cablecard datastream itself.

AFAIK, the guide data is downloaded from Zap2it. even if it's a cableCARD tuner or a standard Tuner. (I have two Ceton InfiniTV4's) and guide data is still provided via http://www.zap2it.com/ the MS update service connects to Zap2it's servers on a schedule and downloads the current listings and updates the Guide.

The cablecard produces a list of channels from the cable co head end with their call signs which allows it to tune to them. When you setup MC you enter your locale and provider and that groups you into your local area. The two parts work together to provide you your tunable stations.
In North America, Zap2it provides the daily download data with all the (sometimes very wrong) guide meta data.
