Anyone know if there is a way to buy a copy of the Microsoft AEP version of Windows? I have 7 TVs in my house, and trying to manage 2 seperate PCs to push all them is not the best way to increase the WAF.

I don't have a need for more than 5, but I've often thought about it. If someone was able to alter a DLL in order to make a Windows PC support multiple simultaneous RDP sessions, you'd think that someone could increase the extender limit.

Since extenders are based on RDP, I'd bet that the limit of 5 extenders is hard coded somewhere just like the limit of only one RDP session on a desktop PC (2 on a Windows server). I don't think it's a registry setting. Someone who is adept at reading machine code should be able to figure it out.

Reviving this thread as with the launch of InfiniTV6, we now have the ability to record more channels than we watch in a household. Not saying that is a bad thing, but I still could free up a PC that supports my son's TV as well as a Slingbox I have in use right now.

Are all 7 TV's in use at the same time?
I have 12 extenders associated with WMC, but can only use 5 extenders at the same time. Also, using all 6 TV's at once, and recording another 6 shows (12 tuners total) pegs hexacore CPU at 90-95% utilization.
You would have to go with an Octacore CPU to get good WAF with 6 extenders on at the same time.

If yours uses that much CPU, then some of your tuners may not have on-board decoders, which would require the CPU to decode the signal. Also, I notice that some of your tuners are connected by USB. The USB host controller uses a lot of CPU when there is high traffic on the USB bus.

The tuner are network attached 3x SDHRD (6 tuners) and Ceton InfiniTV6 ETH.
Does the i5 show up as 8 cores In the Task Manager Performance tab?
The i3 dual core shows up as 4 cpu cores in the Task Manager's Performance tab.

The i5-760 is a 4-core CPU without hyperthreading, so only 4 threads are displayed in Task Manager.

An i3 with Hyperthreading will be a 2 core CPU (I don't think there are any 4 core i3's) with 4 threads displayed in Task Manager. An i3 without Hyperthreading would only show 2 threads in Task Manager, (all i3's support Hyperthreading, but you may be able to turn it off in the BIOS).
The only 8-core CPUs from Intel are Xeon processors. If you're seeing 8 "cores" in Task Manager on a Core iX CPU, then it's a 4-core CPU with hyperthreading enabled.

Your profile on this site says that you have an Athlon II X4. That's a 4-core CPU, not a 6-core CPU. But... you don't mention which Athlon II X4 CPU that is. Maybe your CPU is seriously under-powered?
I'm leaning toward the network adapter using too much CPU, but it couldn't hurt to post the model of your CPU.
