Time Warner Cable Tunning Adapter Updated Yet?

#1

Post by Just13d » Fri Jun 10, 2011 5:46 pm

I know Cisco was supposed to be updating their tunning adapter to handle all four streams for the Ceton Card. I was wondering if anyone had an update to this? I have to reset my adapters at least once a week for the wife to enjoy her channels. Just would be nice to have one and not have to worry. By the way I am in good old Bowling Green Ohio.

The deadline for compliance is August 1, 2011.

Thank You for the reply. I will be looking forward to having only one tuning adapter to worry about.

How will this firmware be updated? Will they push it out via the coax or will it have to be done via the USB connection?

I just figured that they will have new adapters but I have no idea.

Donno for sure on the Cisco, but for my Motorola, the CO (Charter) pushed the TA firmware out over the coax & took about 30 seconds. Never knew it even happened.

According to erkotz, TWC is testing the new firmware in certain markets (sorry not Ohio). The new firmware will do up to 6 streams. Just don't cross the streams. It would be bad.

I believe it is goingnto be a pushed update from the head end based on Erkotz thread. They are beta testing in NC. If you are in NC, Erkotz is looking for beta testers to help TWC over on the other site.

There should be a pool to predict when it actually becomes available in each area. Here in Queens I'm guesstimating November, 2015. I'd give 100 :1 odds against the deadline being met on any head-end outside NC.

Yeah, just an update from me... They still haven't done the beta in North Carolina as far as anyone knows and I was a hopeful for the beta on that.

I finally got my Cisco STA1520 from TWC. I must say that I was expeting something smaller. Mfg date shows July 2011, so I'll be interested to see if it has the latest firmware or if it has been sitting i there warehouse for the last 6 months.
So, this is capable of 6 streams... Since it only has the single USB connection, would 2 be required for 2 HDHR Primes? Or is there a "creative" way to wire it up for more than one HDHR Prime? I'm guessing no...

TA's (and CableCARDs) download firmware from the mini-carousel, so it really doesn't matter what FW it has when you get it - it will be upgraded (or downgraded) after it's connected to the network. TAs only work with a single device, which means you will need 2 for a 6-tuner HDHR Prime (as it's literally two 3-tuners in a single case). The 6-tuner InfiniTV only requires a single TA.

a what? ;)

When might I be able to give some online vendor a credit card number to increase my tuner count from 4 to 10, if I deem that 8 isn't enough or 10 is more cost effective.
