I have to agree. So far, no problems with my listings. Using Verizon FiOS out of Providence, RIQuatrix wrote:I don't think whatever's happening now is as widespread. I experienced the previous outages, but right now I have 12 days as usual.

It's almost as if Media Centre (of which the guide data is an essential element) has moved from being a paid for product to being free. Oh, wait...

I would say this is looking like a good time for someone to write up, or point to, a good Digiguide setup guide and comments on how good the data is (channel coverage, series records, etc)barnabas1969 wrote:Wow, that's terrible. Just to be clear, because we in the US and you in the UK write our dates differently, "4/1" means January 4th, right? In the US, "4/1" would be April 1st. That's why I wrote my post in DDMMMYY format. I think this format will avoid confusion for all of us. For example, today is 27DEC12.mark1234 wrote:You sure that's not just in-band guide data you're picking up? My end date hasn't moved.IT Troll wrote:ITV, CH4 and CH5 now showing up to 4/1. I'd be amazed if IT Troll's guide data went out to April, so, yes, I think it's safe to mean he means 4/1 - 4th January.

Overall i'd give digiguide 8/10 and i'd give the native data 6/10 for me but thats because i have a sky sub which isn't covered by the native data in full. i load it through dvblink and its all automated now, i do nothing for maintenance and setup was reasonably simple but undocumented at the time.
previously i used bigscreenepg loader combined with dg2xml and once understood it is very easy to set up and maintain, just requiring adjustment for DST. Again i don't think there's a good setup guide and it is a bit tricky.
Support from Digiguide themselves is a bit poor, there's no-one from the company on the forum, just power users, but problems seem to get resolved. i'd definitely recommend anyone that isn't familiar with dvblink to check it out. there are many additional benefits to it for a small initial cost. i use the free web, ios and android clients and all are excellent and the client for xbmc is coming on well, through this i am getting streaming to the raspberry pi and a potential replacement for MC in the longer term
edit: more detail. everything works as you'd expect with series link, movie ratings and categories. episode data is there 95% of the time but annoyingly seems to be consistently missing on the same episodes when rerun (i wonder if this is purposely done). data is right 99+% of the time, i've noticed a couple of mistakes in 4 years. the main disadvantage is its loaded daily so if there is a last minute change, say for late running sporting events, it won't be picked up. plus if episode data is not available at the time of picking up by the loader (14 days in advance) it won't always be updated if its later updated on the website

Yes, I agree that it would be amazing if his/her data goes to April... but I thought I should ask just to be certain. Maybe it would be better for all of us to write dates in the form 4th January, January 4th, 4th January 2013, or January 4th 2013 (or the 3-character abbreviation for the month). This would avoid confusion.mark1234 wrote:I'd be amazed if IT Troll's guide data went out to April, so, yes, I think it's safe to mean he means 4/1 - 4th January.

I thought it was only me ...
I notice from the Red Bee Media website that if you publish listings you have to pay a royalty for ITV and C4, and those are than channels I have no data for. Maybe someone forgot to pay the bill.
I have spent hours trying to set up an alternative source, but to be honest, 4 different bits of software, all scheduled to do different updates is a recipe for disaster.
I can't remember why I stopped using in band updates, I think it is becuse the black gold card I use loses tuners if you let it scan.

I think it's the automatic scan for new channels (rather than EPG listings) that was implicated in Black Gold tuner loss.alanroy wrote:I thought it was only me ...

For me, the in-band updates are no good because they exclude all the Freeview HD Channels.

Sorry for the date confusion, I was using the UK, i.e. correct format
My guide is now showing listings until 4/1 for all channels except HD. Is this from in-band data then?
The about page gives the Guide End Date as 04/01/2013 05:30:00.
But then below that, within the transmiter details it gives 01/01/2013 11:00.

Yes, the in-band data is good for a week ahead, but only on SD channels.IT Troll wrote: My guide is now showing listings until 4/1 for all channels except HD. Is this from in-band data then?
For HD channels the in-band data is compressed in a format that media centre does not support, so unless BDS provide the downloadable EPG within the next 3 days, it will not be possible to use media centre as an HD PVR. The only option for HD would be to set up a manual recording and supply channel no. start time and stop time, as obtained from another source.
I can't believe the deafening silence from MS support on this issue in the UK and Ireland.

I noticed this issue this morning so downloaded the latest guide which it had done so successfully but when I checked the guide it only went up to the 31st December. I was assuming that this was for some technical reason and on the 1st January it would download and display a full 14 days?
