Hauppauge 2250 Tuner Not Found

#1

Post by snokarver » Sun Nov 18, 2012 10:51 pm

I had Windows 7 Pro running with MC and a Hauppauge 2250. It was working fine. I wanted to give Windows 8 a try, so I did the upgrade. No matter what I try, when I go to setup the TV in Media Center, it doesn't recognize the tuner.

I've tried:
- Reinstalling both the tuner and the MC driver
- ^ as Admin
- ^ in Win 7 compatibility mode
- Uninstalled MC, then reinstalled it

How do I get Media Center in Windows 8 to recognize the tuner?

Little kick on this topic because I have the exact same problem. After an upgrade from W7 to W8 there seems to be no tuners in Media Center at all while the hardware in Control panel, Device manager shows it correct. I have the Hauppauge Satellite tuner.

Even after installation of the DVBLink TV Client software I have 8 virtual TV tuners in device manager but Media Center still says there are no tuners...

At the Hauppauge support page:

http://www.hauppage.com/site/support/su ... r2250.html

There's a new install package, that covers Windows 8:

That's only for WinTV. I use the card with Media Center, not WinTV.

My 2250 is in machine still using W7 but I have a HVR1600 in a W8 machine and it was picked up by Windows and works fine. I wonder why the 2250 doesn't work.
By the way, the second link in post #3 doesn't work.

I didn't have any issues and I have two of these cards. I always do a clean install instead of an upgrade.

In Device Manager you might see something listed under (Other devices) and be able to update the driver manually.

Here are mine as they show up properly.

Sound, video and game controllers
Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-2250 (8851)
Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-2250 (8880)

It could also be issues with the specific hardware version/design you have. There are a few. I have 2 different ones.

I am having some troubles with the same card, I found this article here:

It didn't help me, but it might help you.

Since my data was stored on an additional disk, I completely reinstalled my W8 media center and now the DVBLink vitrual tuners are recognized.
