Windows 8 - Trouble Burning a CD

Hi I am new to this forum. My question is the following.
I just purchased a new desktop HP System with Windows 8. When I go to burn a CD it gives me a message that says something has caused the program to closed.
When I had my old PC it had vista in it and had no PROB.
It is very frustrating and I keep trying and that keep showing up.

my system :
HP PAVILION p7-1414 PC
quad core a8-5500 accelerated processor
64-bit performance /6GB DDR3 system memory
1TB hard drive
SuperMulti DVD burner
wireless LAN 802.11lb/g/n featuring Single-band(2.4Ghz) 1x1
AMD radeon HD 7560D Graphics

Does anyone know what I can do to burn cd's? it is rather frustrating. I have called HP and all they can say is send it in we can see what is wrong. NO WAY. I call well I bought it and they give me a bunch of you know what. I will never buy another ITEM at BEST BUY.

I don't know but I downloaded the trial of bigscreen epg and it allowed me to use all 6 of mine. Unsure if that stops after trial expires.
