I bought a hp IR receiver and have a harmony 900 (or similar rf remote) how do I program the computer to receive IR commands?

Use the Harmony set up software and input the HTPC. There are probably custom buttons to set up to make things easier. I'm still waiting on my Rosewill IR dongle :smile:

eBay the hp one, it's 10 bucks.. Thanks for the response! Gonna use autohotkey to make done good button combos to run scripts and goto screens quickly.

I got the Rosewill one for $15, figure I'll have a backup remote in case the dog gets a hold of my Harmony again :grin:

I think you need someone who actually owns a Harmony remote, and has Media Center to chime in... but you should be able to program your Harmony to work with Windows Media Center. I use a competing remote, but mine allows me to input the fact that I'm using a Media Center PC... and it magically programs my remote to do everything that Media Center can do... including many buttons that don't exist on an original Media Center remote.

I've had a couple of Harmonys and I've always just selected media center PC including my current one.

When adding a device select Computer then Media Center PC made by Microsoft. Model is Windows Media Center.
