Companion app beta

#1

Post by bobbob » Thu Oct 18, 2012 10:08 am

Hi,

I have the companion app and its working well apart from one issue. It seems to be preventing my HTPC undergoing an automatic reboot through Media Center Standby Tool. Apparently other users have reported this and you have made a beta available that fixes this. The failure to reboot is having other consequences on my HTPC and so i wondered whether it was possible to access the beta to see if I can fix these.

Thanks!

Instead of using the standby tool, you can create a task to reboot nightly. That's what I have and it works fine with the companion app.

you can but MST has better logic when it comes to determining whether its safe to restart, i.e. if there's a recording in progress it will wait until it finishes then reboot.

Mr Ceton i have confirmed it is your app that is causing the problem that results in WMC being closed, please can i have access to the beta which allows PC's to restart? thanks

We are working on a new build right now that should be out extremely soon with additional fixes for this problem.

I'll give you five star reviews on iOS and Anroid when I can use the movie side of things. I'll also purchase it once more on both platforms for my wife when the app is complete. Right now that movie tab is just mocking me.

Why would you want to reboot your computer every night? my computer has been on for 2 weeks with no problems.

I could see a need for a reboot on occasion. Never hurts. Mine is hooked up to WHS so I have to have a password and can't auto logon #annoying

^ Are you referring to booting into Windows Motz?

Have you tried:

Code: Select all

netplwiz
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\AutoAdminLogon

set to 1

On installation of the connector a pasword is required, when install is done you can revert to autologon, works like a charm.

no change for me with the update. I re-enabled reboot daily in MST after installing it and this morning when turning on the tv i see WMC shut and MST is still reporting no successful reboots. i think next step is to uninstall the Companion App to confirm its this preventing the restart

Did you reboot after installing the update?

i can't confirm, i should think so and almost certainly before it should have rebooted. However I installed MST after i installed the Ceton App so I have never actually had MST successfully reboot the PC. It was Barnabas1969 that linked it to the Companion App.

so i think i need to prove the connection first

ok, so good job i checked. I still cannot get MST to restart my PC without the Ceton Companion Service installed so its clearly not that. back to the original thread then! http://www.thegreenbutton.tv/forums/vie ... f=5&t=3135 any help gratefully received and I've attached the MST logs now so hopefully that will help

thanks
